My endeavor in life is to become real and whole. I was awakened 38 years ago by my divine guide, Avah, when I began daily meditation practices. Thanks to Avah’s guidance I continued to paint during the years I was employed as a kindergarten teacher and the 20 years I taught art at College of the Redwoods. My paintings have evolved during the 23 years I worked as a psychotherapist and especially now since I’m retired showing a shift towards what is symbolic.
The artwork I do expresses my reverence for nature as well as the spiritual symbolism of wholeness found in a circle, a triangle, a square, a feather, water, air, earth, a plant, a flower, a tree and an animal. A subjective, spiritual point of reference motivated me to paint Mandalas after I studied the writings of Carl Jung who defined Mandala as a centering, balancing, meditative form of art. Again, thanks to Avah’s guidance, I am currently influenced by environmental issues and endangered species as I draw and paint. I want all of creation to become whole, just as I am in the process of becoming. |
