Art In Motion Call For Proposals

This year the Humboldt Arts Council is spearheading a major public art display throughout the City of Eureka and we are hoping our artist community will consider participating. Similar to the Cow Parade in New York, Art in Motion, is intended to unite local artists, local businesses and the Humboldt Arts Council in showcasing the vast artistic talent within Humboldt County. Art in Motion will serve as a major fundraiser for the Humboldt Arts Council, supporting the many programs including the Morris Graves Museum of Art.

We are asking you to be part of this exciting public art display and submit a proposal highlighting your artistic skills in creating a one-of-a-kind artist mannequin. If selected for inclusion in the Art in Motion art walk, the Council provides the 16" artist mannequin and you provide the talent! Open to all mediums, we are seeking creative interpretations of the traditional wooden mannequin. If selected, your art work will be on display in local downtown and Old Town business partners from July through October, including First Saturday Night Arts Alive, as well as two, one-month exhibitions in the Rotunda of the Museum during June and November. At the end of the art walk the mannequins will be part of a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the many programs of the Humboldt Arts Council.

We hope you will support the Museum and participate in the Art in Motion Art Walk. Please submit a proposal with a visual image of your proposed Art In Motion figure by March 14, 2008. Please contact the HAC with any questions at 707-442-0278.
