Summer of Art –The Life of the Artist

In Celebration of a Summer of Art – The Life of the Artist, this Summer Film Series will highlight the lives of 3 well-known artists: Picasso, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh. From Simon Schama’s Power of Art, these films will be shown in there entirety. Special thanks to Claire Reynolds and KEET-TV for providing this programming.

SIMON SCHAMA’S POWER OF ART is a series of documentaries accompanying the book by author and historian Simon Schama. Featuring eight narratives of embattled artists, the film series examines the life and work of Caravaggio, Bernini, Rembrandt, Jacques-Louis David, Turner, Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Mark Rothko confronting disaster and triumph while making art that continues to resonate today.
