Join us each month from 6 to 9 pm.

Blue Lotus Jazz

The core of Blue Lotus Jazz is comprised of, Dave Wilson, Guitar and Shaoway Wu, bass. Blue Lotus Jazz showcases the vocalese of American jazz standards and Brazilian Bossa/Samba music. Nalini Cogswell, Guitar/Vocals, studied classical and jazz guitar in Boston in the mid 1970’s with renowned players such as Andy Caponegro, Mick Goodrick, Pat Metheny and John Damien. Blue Lotus represents a renewal of her passion and interests as a jazz musician.

In partnership with KEET-TV and the Ready-to-Learn initiative, the Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Museum of Art will offer FREE monthly workshops for children, families, and childcare providers.

These FREE monthly workshops will be lead by Jackie Hamilton from KEET-TV and take place on the first Saturday of every month from 12-2pm. The workshops are geared to provide opportunities for youth (2-8 years old) to develop critical reading and comprehension skills.

Saturday: Noon - 2 pm

Let's face it - High school can be brutal. The struggle to fit in, prepare for college and live independently. Step into the hallways of a unique high school and follow four students grappling with these usual teenage concerns­­all while being blind. Director Keith Maitland takes an extraordinary peek into their world where learning to cross an intersection, cook a meal or navigate an unfamiliar place can be a much more difficult than any calculus lesson.

Join the Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Museum of Art for An Afternoon of Dance.  An Afternoon of Dance provides a performance space for local dance companies and a FREE venue for community members to enjoy an afternoon of dance.

Every 2nd Sunday from 2 to 4 pm.

OPEN JAZZ JAM SESSIONS
Join us each Third Sunday of the month from
2 to 4:30 pm.

Each session will include a performance by local jazz artists, a talk on some aspect of Jazz history and a jam during which guest musicians are invited to join that Sunday’s performing group. Players and singers who wish to play may sign up, list a tune, and perform. Admission is free, although donations are always welcome.

The Inkling Quartet

Inkling was originally conceived in June of 2007 to perform at the Morris Graves Sunday Jazz series. The group focuses primarily on presenting original material comprised of varying musical ideas. Inkling employs a collaborative approach to the development of each piece bringing a unique and multifaceted realization to each composition.

Every 4th Sunday of the month at 2pm enjoy a Museum Tour with trained docents to learn about the Museum’s history, permanent collection, and current exhibitions while sipping tea and meeting new friends!

Admission is FREE.
