Uniontown Jazz Trio
Every 4th Saturday, 2 - 4 pm

April 26, May 24, & June 28, 2008

Susie Laraine, a well seasoned performer on tenor, flute, and alto flute, comes from the San Francisco area and has been playing in jazz groups in Humboldt County for 6 years.  Shao Way Wu, acoustic bassist and long time Humboldt County resident, performs in many different musical styles and is well know for his high energy and exceptional talent.  Brian Post, pianist, is a Professor of Music at HSU and plays jazz with the breadth and facility that brings Schubert, Debussy, and the scope of classical music into the jazz context.

These three musicians have combined to produce a unique trio.  They play mainstream jazz compositions and standards, while working together to give the music a fresh sound. Their own arrangements open up the trio format to new textures and variations in the traditional functions of the instruments.

As part of a larger project, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA, is a monthly screening series showcasing the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens.Presented in partnership with KEET TV, and Humboldt State University, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA aims to build connections among diverse communities, public television stations and leading community organizations working on a range of important social issues. *Programming content does not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Musuem of Art.
