February 4th-KEET's Kids Club at the MGMA


In partnership with KEET-TV and the Ready-to-Learn initiative, the Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Museum of Art will offer FREE monthly workshops for children, families, and childcare providers.

These FREE monthly workshops are led by Jackie Hamilton from KEET-TV and take place on the first Saturday of every month from 12-2pm. The workshops are geared to provide opportunities for youth (2-8 years old) to develop critical reading and comprehension skills.

Saturday: Noon - 2 pm

Each family will take home a FREE BOOK!

February 4th- Arts Alive!

Join us the first Saturday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. for live music and exhibition receptions to celebrate the arts in our community!

Blue Lotus Jazz Duo

Blue Lotus Jazz showcases the vocalese of American jazz standards and Brazilian Bossa/Samba music. Lead vocalist Nalini Cogswell studied classical and jazz guitar in Boston in the mid 1970’s with renowned players such as Andy Caponegro, Mick Goodrick, Pat Metheny and John Damien. Guitarist Davis Wilson is an accomplished composer and recording producer with more than 40 years of experience as a musician.  He plays both guitar and bass in a wide variety of settings from classical to jazz to rock.

As part of a larger project, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA, is a monthly screening series showcasing the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Independent Lens.Presented in partnership with KEET TV, and Humboldt State University, ITVS COMMUNITY CINEMA aims to build connections among diverse communities, public television stations and leading community organizations working on a range of important social issues. *Programming content does not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of the Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Musuem of Art.

More than a Month


Filmmaker Shukree Hassan Tilghman sets off on a cross-country campaign to end Black History Month. His tongue-in-cheek journey explores the complexity and contradictions of relegating an entire group’s history to one month in a so-called “post-racial” America.

February 11th-Second Saturday Family Arts Day


2 - 4 pm

We offer activites for youth and families, including performances, hands-on arts projects, & interactive storytellers.

 

Love & The Art of the Valentine

Listen to love stories and drumming with Anita Punla and Big Lagoon Union Elementary School and then create artful Valentines in the Youth Classroom inspired by the exhibition Artist's Valentines.

February 19th-Sunday Afternoons at the Graves

OPEN JAZZ JAM SESSIONS 
Join us each Third Sunday of the month from 
2 to 4:30 pm.

Each session will include a performance by local jazz artists, a talk on some aspect of Jazz history and a jam during which guest musicians are invited to join that Sunday’s performing group. Players and singers who wish to play may sign up, list a tune, and perform. Admission is free, although donations are always welcome.

Three Mediums

3 Mediums is an experimental jazz group featuring Jesse Elias on guitar, Michael Dieter on bass, and Michael Meyers on drums.

The Humboldt Arts Council and the Morris Graves Museum of Art in partnership with the Humboldt Docent Council is proud to announce an afternoon just for seniors!

Every 4th Sunday of the month at 2pm enjoy a Museum Tour with trained docents to learn about the Museum’s history, permanent collection, and current exhibitions while sipping tea and meeting new friends!

Admission is FREE.
